Emergency planning
There has never been an accident at a commercial UK power station that posed a danger to the general public. In the unlikely event of a serious incident, contingency plans are readily available to deal with any on-site or off-site consequences that might arise. These plans are written and regularly exercised in close co-operation with the emergency services and local and national agencies. They are monitored and assessed by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate.
