Support Office
The Magnox South Support Offices (MSSO) are based at Berkeley Centre in Gloucestershire and Mallard Court in Bridgwater, Somerset.
The MSSO functions at various levels. At its highest level, the executive team oversee and manage Magnox South as a whole and its relationship with the NDA, regulators and other local, regional, and national stakeholders. The executive team also provides the company's strategic direction, aiming to fully integrate the site priorities and activities within the NDA's strategic aims.
A series of functional areas within MSSO perform a diverse range of activities to support the executive including environment health safety security and quality, personnel, project controls, commercial (including NDA property management), IT, finance, engineering support, operational strategy, communications and occupational health. In service to the broader Magnox South organisation, these functions aim to ensure a consistent way of working across all of the sites.
Specific projects complete the MSSO picture. A reskilling project is supporting the development of new skills within the existing workforce as the company's focus changes to full decommissioning.
The decommissioning strategies project exists to realise gains through finding and proving new, innovative and integrated decommissioning and waste management approaches, designed to minimise waste volumes and/or reduce hazard thereby reducing cost.
Having been proven by the MSSO, these strategies are destined to be actively deployed at those sites best positioned to use them.
